They’re always looking for new ways to learn at Peachtree City Elementary, and 2nd graders have been on the search for ways to sharpen their vocabulary and understanding of alphabetical order with a word scavenger hunt.
Teaming up with partners, students learned to navigate dictionaries to find and define words they are using in their reading units.
Teacher Kamie Epps is thrilled to see students taking an interest in expanding their vocabulary. Her “power hour” students even make their own dictionary to add new words to each week.
“An increase in a kiddo’s vocabulary bank strongly supports their ability to comprehend what they are reading and helps them to be better writers,” said Epps. “The kids LOVED the hunt and asked to keep going!”
