A 16-year-old Starr’s Mill high school student was struck by a car and killed on Feb. 10, according to The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
Russell Logan, a sophomore at Starr’s Mill High School in Peachtree City, Georgia, was walking in his neighborhood on Thursday night when he was struck and killed.
Robert Lee Stevenson, 60, of Senoia, was charged with vehicular homicide, DUI, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident in relation to the incident, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
According to court records, Stevenson was arrested for DUI and other charges in 2008 and 2018.
The incident occurred on Brechin Drive, a residential street off Ga. Highway 74 South near Peachtree City.
“Initial information from the scene indicates that Robert Lee Stevenson was driving a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix northbound on Brechin Drive and crossed the southbound lane striking a 16-year-old male.” Fayette county Sheriff Barry Babb said.
Logan was taken to Piedmont Fayette Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A member of the school’s basketball team, Logan was remembered by teammates and fellow students at Starr’s Mill on Friday, and a prayer service was held at Southside Church.
