Tyrone woman killed in traffic accident

Fayetteville and Peachtree City police are investigating a traffic accident Wednesday night in which a Tyrone resident was killed and two others were sent to the hospital.

According to Lt. Mike Whitlow with the Fayetteville Police Department, Charis Walker, 23, of Tyrone was crossing Highway 54 from Cobblestone Boulevard to Weatherly Drive around 11 p.m. Wednesday night and was struck on the drivers side by an eastbound vehicle driven by Richard Jennings, 46, of Ellenwood.

Whitlow said Walker was killed on impact and Jennings was sent to the Altanta Medical Center where he is in critical condition.

Two of Walker’s children were in the car, a 14-year old and a 19-year-old female. The 14-year-old was uninjured while the 19-year-old was transported to Piedmont Fayette Hospital and is in stable condition.

Whitow said the Fayetteville Police Department Traffic Team and the Peachtree City Police Department Traffic Unit are investigating the accident.
