Tyrone man arrested in cell phone theft

A man is behind bars after stealing a woman’s cell phone from a break room at TJ Maxx.

Tyrone Police spokesman Phillip Nelson said the incident occurred Oct. 18 when an employee at TJ Maxx in Peachtree City noticed her phone was missing from the store’s break room.

Nelson said the cell phone’s pinging led them to an address in Tyrone where Gerron Davis, 26, was located. Davis at first denied existence of the cell phone, but later turned it over to the cops, Nelson said.

When the victim received her phone, she noticed that two cash apps had been activated, each transferring $88 out of her account.

Davis was charged with two counts of financial identity fraud, theft by receiving stolen property, and two counts of theft by taking.
