TYRONE — The Town of Tyrone has long been known as a town of community and togetherness, and this year, the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is hoping to strengthen that sense of community with its Inaugural “First Friday” event.

To kick off the summer of fun, the DDA has planned the series of festivities on the first Friday of June, July, August and September in order to allow citizens to enjoy the sun and fun.

The event is centered around a combination of family friendly events such as entertainment, food trucks and vendors to tie the town of Tyrone together.

The DDA, which was first activated by Tyrone Mayor Eric Dial and the Tyrone Council, was established in efforts to work toward the revitalization of the Downtown area of Tyrone while bringing a sense of fresh faces to the area.

This year’s event is being held at Shamrock Park on June 3 and will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will feature “Second Time Around’,which pays tribute to Jimmy Buffet.
