Wildcat talents shine at CBVI show

The school year is ending with a high note thanks to the annual CBVI Talent Show at Whitewater High School. A number of exceptional students showed off an array of talents from singing and dancing to playing musical instruments and exercise. There was even an appearance by the comedy duo Steinberg and Fudge.
Students performing were Christopher Carnahan, Katie Allen, Olivia Newsome, Corbett Dishman, Abbey Pickett, Helena Fickling, Joshua Gordon, Alex Steinberg, Lovlina Outhavong, Seth Stevenson, Katie Petersen, and Derek Baughan.
Bo Bonner served as MC for the show, and the WHS Senior Chorus joined Carnahan for a special performance. (more…)

Senoia leaders like Tigchelaar’s Main Street expansion plan

Senoia’s Planning Commission on Tuesday night gave an initial thumbs-up to a plan to bring more retail, restaurant and even residential buildings to the city’s historic Main Street District, a project managed and partly owned by Raleigh Studios Atlanta owner Scott Tigchelaar.

For the most part, planning commissioners’ votes amount to recommendations, which will then be forwarded to Senoia City Council, which is scheduled to look at the project at its Nov. 3 meeting.

The project would involve the vacant lot just south of the Masonic lodge on the east side of Main Street, and it would extend across Barnes (more…)

Mural chosen for Crosstown water plant

The Fayette County Public Art Committee recently put out a call to artists to submit a mural design for one of the walls the Crosstown Water Treatment Plant on TDK Boulevard.

The image above shows what the wall may look like after artist Pash Lima’s design is painted on.

Lima was the winner from among 23 applicants, nine of which met all qualifications as laid out by the county committee.

If approved by the county commission on Thursday, Lima is expected to begin work on the mural November 1, and will be paid $3,000. The county will also cover the (more…)

Hudson Plaza buildings demolished for Hwy 92 realignment

An estimated three-day demolition process at Fayetteville’s Hudson Plaza II began Monday morning, Sep. 22 as a track hoe pushed down most of an entire building within the shopping center. That area is being cleared for the construction of a new roadway that will connect a soon-to-be-realigned Hwy. 92 with North Jeff Davis Drive. The demolished building once housed Rocky’s Barber Shop, Play It Again Sports, and Golden Chopstix, all of which relocated to other portions of the same shopping center.
