Peachtree City advances past Michigan in LLWS

The Little League World Series has seen its share of teams making storybook runs through the tournament. This season, Peachtree City American Little League has added their name to the list of squads to amaze fans in Williamsport, Pa.

Peachtree City added another chapter to their story by defeating Grosse Pointe, Michigan 4-3 on Wednesday. This was Peachtree City’s third victory in an elimination game as they now move on to the U.S. Championship semifinals on Thursday.

Four arrested in Wednesday morning smash-and-grab attempt

A carload of suspects reportedly caught doing a bit of unauthorized, early-morning Christmas shopping in Peachtree City  on Wednesday picked perhaps the worst possible getaway route and were nabbed by Peachtree City Police, Tyrone Police and Fayette County Sheriff’s deputies.

An “armed and extremely dangerous” robber is on the run after hitting three Walgreen’s pharmacies in three cities, say Fayetteville Police, and in each case the man is said to have been after prescription drugs.

According to Lieutenant Mike Whitlow, public information officer with the Fayetteville Police Department, an early-20s black male wearing blue jeans, a gray hooded sweatshirt and a black baseball cap hit the northern Fayetteville Walgreen’s around 8:50 p.m. on Friday, approaching the pharmacy counter, brandished (more…)

WWII Heritage Days begins Saturday in PTC

Families will have the unique opportunity to share in the sights and sounds of 1940s wartime America at the 13th annual World War II Heritage Days on Saturday and Sunday in Peachtree City at Atlanta Regional Airport – Falcon Field.

Reenactors will stage realistic mock battles, veterans will talk about their experiences, and Placid Lassie, a C-47 transport aircraft flown during the D-Day invasion, is scheduled to appear for the weekend. World War II D-Day paratrooper James “Pee Wee” Martin also will discuss his experiences.

It’s been nearly a year since Ross Greene of Peachtree City published “A Fortress and a Legacy,” a well-received biographical novel featuring the World War II aviator uncle for whom he was named.

After traveling all over the United States, the United Kingdom, and parts of Western Europe learning about and talking about the War, this weekend he will set up camp in his own hometown at World War II Heritage Days promoting his book, talking (more…)
