Fayetteville Police investigators are asking for the public’s help in locating a Publix robbery suspect, who is said to have hit the Fayette Pavilion store around 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
According to Lt. Mike Whitlow, the suspect told the clerk at the customer service desk to hand over the $20 bills saying he had a gun. Whitlow said no gun was actually displayed during the incident, and there were no injuries.

Fayette County Sheriff’s Office investigators are looking for a suspect in the Wednesday afternoon armed robbery of the Fidelity Bank located at the corner of Hwy. 54 West and Norton Road, not far from Piedmont Fayette Hospital.
According to Public Information Officer Allen Stevens, the incident took place at 2:33 p.m. when a man entered the bank, approached a teller, and gave them a note demanding money. The suspect reportedly brandished a black handgun that appeared to be a semi-automatic model.
Stevens said there were no injuries and the suspect did get away with an undisclosed amount of money. (more…)
Kenny Melear, one of Fayette’s most well-known community leaders, passed away Thursday morning. He was 86.
A Fayetteville resident for more than half a century, Melear, a Newnan native, moved to town after establishing his already-successful Melear’s Barbecue restaurant. Melear and his barbecue house would become landmarks for the South Atlanta region. When national politicians visited the area, they made sure to have their picture taken at Melear’s.

Fayetteville Police are investigating a second Waffle House armed robbery in two days, and they are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspects.
According to reports, a Monday 12;17 a.m. armed robbery took place at the Waffle House at 700 North Glynn Street (Hwy. 85) just south of the Hwy. 314 intersection. Tuesday morning, the Waffle House located on Hwy. 54 near the Gingercake Road intersection was hit in roughly the same manner around 1:05.
Police say the incidents may be connected.

Fayetteville Police are looking for a suspect in an early Monday morning armed robbery that reportedly took place at the Waffle House restaurant located at 700 North Glynn Street (Hwy. 85) just south of the Hwy. 314 intersection.
According to police reports, at approximately 12:17 a.m. Monday, the suspect is said to have held out a silver semi-automatic handgun and demanded that an employee give him money from the cash register. The suspect is a black male wearing black pants, a black shirt, and a black skull mask.

Fayetteville Police on Monday morning revealed that the woman found dead in her car on Friday afternoon in a McDonald’s parking lot was 20-year-old Samantha Anita Moore, a Fayetteville resident.
According to police reports, a customer at the McDonald’s located in the middle of Fayetteville at Hwy. 85 and Hwy. 92 noticed Moore sitting alone and possibly in need of medical attention in her older model Honda Prelude and they dialed 911. That was around 2:11 p.m. Friday.

Jonesboro-based Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity is working full-stride building and refurbishing homes all across the southern Atlanta Metro Area, having earlier this year finished one 15-home neighborhood in Lovejoy in southern Clayton County only to start a new one there earlier this month.
That second neighborhood build was kicked off with help from more than 200 The Home Depot employees.

German discount grocery chain Lidl (pronounced “LI-dull”), which is one of Aldi’s top competitors in Europe, is finally taking steps to break into the U.S. market, and Fayetteville is one of the first cities on its list of proposed store locations.
Basing its U.S. operations in McLean, Virginia just outside Washington, D.C., Lidl has not yet opened any of its stores on this side of the Atlantic, but it has already begun building a few in East Coast states.
