The Fayetteville Police Department has issued a warrant in conjunction with an attempted burglary Feb. 12 at the Cobblestone Apartments complex.
Police spokesman Ann Marie Burdett said a resident at the complex at 4 p.m. Feb. 12 heard a subject repeatedly knock at his apartment door.
Burdett said the resident then heard a noise in the bedroom. When he arrived at the bedroom, he saw a male inside the bedroom approach the door to the living room.
“At that time, both the suspect and the resident were holding onto opposite sides of the bedroom door. The resident yelled, ‘I have a gun’ and the suspect fled the apartment,” she said.
She said the suspect fled behind the complex to a wooded area, where he was discovered by other members of the police department, who had a description of the suspect from the resident.
When the suspect was detained, he complained of chest pains, Burdett said, so he was transported to Piedmont Fayette Hospital for treatment and released. Police then issued the warrant for his arrest.
