Stockbridge man charged with arson in Fayetteville house fire

Fayetteville Police have arrested a Stockbridge man in connection with a Fayetteville house fire, according to Lieutenant Mike Whitlow.

Rico Jermaine Williams 30, of Stockbridge was arrested on October 9, 2014 and is in the Fayette County Jail charged with one count of Arson 1st degree and one count of Burglary.

On September 27, 2014 at approximately 1:00 PM, Fayetteville Fire Department units responded to a house fire at 100 Holly Ave which was fully engulfed. Neighbors reported seeing a subject enter the home through a window and leave shortly before the fire started.

Fayetteville Fire officials contacted the Fayetteville Police Department and detectives also responded. Fayetteville detectives were able to obtain evidence and through the subsequent investigation identified Williams.

The homeowner was inside asleep at the time of the fire but was able to escape without injury.

Fayetteville Police continue to investigate the incident; however, no additional arrests are expected.
