PTC Police officers hailed as heroes

Peachtree City Police officers Brandon Akins and Anna Lieff were honored with Lifesaving Awards at Thursday night’s city council meeting.

A pair of Peachtree City Police officers were honored for their calm and quick thinking. Anna Lieff and Brandon Akins were honored by the city and Police Chief Janet Moon with a Lifesaving Award at last week’s City Council meeting.

According to Moon, in the early morning hours of February 26, 911 received a call from an individual threatening to jump off the bridge that spans the railroad tracks on Macduff Parkway near Senoia Road. Officer Lieff was first on the scene and was able to establish a rapport with the individual. Akins approached from the opposite side, and continued communication. The two officers worked together and distracted the individual long enough that they could safely remove her from the edge of the bridge.

“The manner in which these officers handled a stressful and volatile call for service is a direct reflection of their commitment and dedication to serving the citizens of Peachtree City,” said Moon. “It is apparent that their actions directly contributed to saving a human life.”
