PEACHTREE CITY – Peachtree City police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Wednesday morning that has left one dead.
According to the Peachtree City Police Department Facebook page, the incident occurred at Highway 54 at Lexington Circle and there was no threat to the public.
In an updated briefing, PTCPD stated that Marlon C. Jones, 45, of Fairburn was taken into custody at the scene of Wednesday morning’s shooting outside of the CVS at Lexington Circle.
The victim was Donell Hicks, 35, of Newnan and he was an employee of the CVS where the incident occurred.
According to PTCPD Spokesperson Donte Phillips, the two parties did know each other, and the incident was a domestic dispute that remained isolated between the two parties.
“What we know now is that one person is deceased and one person is in custody. It was a domestic situation that was isolated between the two parties because they knew each other,” Phillips said.
Given that the incident was near McIntosh High School and close to where many of the students park in the morning, McIntosh principal Maggie Walls sent a letter to the parents regarding the incident.
The investigation is still ongoing and charges are pending.
