PTC Fire douses Thanksgiving Day brush fire

Some people (we’re assuming not readers of our newspaper) are slow to pick up on the fact that conditions are so dry outside that extra care must be taken to avoid setting brush fires, which can then turn into wildfires much like the ones in North Georgia and even the one that was contained late Monday in Spalding County just over the Fayette County line near the Town of Brooks.

On Thursday, Peachtree City firefighters were dispatched to another brush fire, this one in a patch of woods near Tivoi Gardens and Petrol Point. Police say it is a golf cart shortcut, and apparently the improper disposal of smoking material caught the area on fire.

The result looks like a light dusting of snow.

It also looks like a lot of work for something that could have easily been avoided.
