Fayetteville Police are investigating the Friday, Jan. 2, armed robbery of the Shell gas station and convenience store located at Hwy. 85 South and Bradley Drive.
According to Lt. Mike Whitlow, the incident took place around 8:20 p.m. that day when a black male walked into the store, walked behind the sales counter past the store clerk and brandishing a silver revolver required the clerk to open the drawer. Security video footage shows the suspect taking the cash from the opened register drawer before fleeing the store.
Whitlow said the suspect ran north along Hwy. 85 and that he probably had a getaway car waiting for him. He said city police officers and county deputies searched the area but did not find the suspect.
“Fayetteville Police are examining evidence located at the scene as well as the surveillance video from the incident,” Whitlow said.
He said the clerk was emotionally shaken but not injured.
The suspect is said to have been in his late 20s to early 30s, around six feet tall, approximately 175 pounds and wearing gray jeans, a dark blue jacket, white women’s sunglasses, white flat-bottom tennis shoes and a black baseball cap with a bird logo.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Fayetteville Police at 770-461-4441.
