Peachtree City: Traffic Stop reveals meth trafficking by Brooks man and woman

PEACHTREE CITY — Peachtree City police arrested a Brooks man and woman on charges of drug trafficking on March 19. 

On March 19 at 12:19 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan Altima on Highway 54 near Walt Banks Road.

The traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Sean Smith, 48, and Mary Cagle, 31, for trafficking methamphetamine and drug possession.

According to Peachtree City Spokesperson Chris Hyatt, the initial stop was due to the registration as the primary issue.

“Subsequent investigation roadside led to both occupants having illegal narcotics on their person. The items being marijuana and methamphetamines as well as drug-related objects,” Hyatt said. 

 Smith was also charged with obstruction of an officer, driving with suspended registration and failure to display license upon request. 

Cagle was charged with possession of marijuana less than one ounce and possession of drug-related objects.

Both Smith and Cagle have been charged and booked in Fayette County Jail.
