Peachtree City Man who Led Police on Chase is Arrested, Police say

A Peachtree City man is facing multiple charges after leading police on a speed chase through Peachtree City.

On March 7, Efrain A. Ortez, 22, was arrested after leading an officer in a car chase through many Peachtree City neighborhoods, according to police.

Peachtree City Police Spokesperson Chris Hyatt said an officer was attempting to conduct a routine traffic stop, but Ortez refused to stop his vehicle. 

A chase ensued through many Peachtree City neighborhoods until Ortez ultimately wrecked his vehicle at the intersection of Wingate Rd and Bridlepath Lane, according to Hyatt. 

An investigation began after the chase and Ortez was charged with fleeing/eluding law enforcement, DUI of alcohol, driving with a suspended drivers license, reckless driving, seatbelt violation, failing to stop at an accident with damages, two counts of failure to maintain lane, two counts of running a stop sign and one count of running a red light. 

Ortez is currently booked and in Fayette County Jail.
