A Peachtree City resident died in a car wreck Tuesday morning in Newnan.
Joseph Bernard Gentile, 23, was traveling alone in his silver Saturn Ion east on 34 Bypass when he crossed all lanes of travel and collided with a tree just before 7:40 a.m. He was discovered with a small amount of marijuana in his pocket.
“When emergency personnel came on scene and evaluated him, he was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene,” Georgia State Patrol Trooper Jordan Watkins said.
It has not yet been determined whether Gentile had drugs in his system at the time of the accident.
The wreck was the second fatal car accident within a week in Coweta County. On Friday, April 28, a 22-year-old Montgomery, Alabama, woman was killed and two others in in critical condition in a two-vehicle collision in South Coweta.
