As more and more Tesla vehicles populate the streets of Fayette County, a new dealership from Elon Musk’s electric fleet of futuristic-looking cars is expected to settle in Fayetteville.
At a special called meeting by the Fayetteville Planning Commission on March 17, a proposal to rezone the land located at 1302 Highway 85 North in Fayetteville was discussed.
The land, currently home to Havertys Furniture store, would need to be rezoned from the C-2 (Community Commercial) zoning district to the C-3 (Highway Commercial) zoning district for an automobile dealership to be constructed.
The 6.7-acre plot, which hosts a 65,000 square foot building, was bought by Havertys in 2006 for $4.8 million. A 2022 estimate saw the property value fall to $4.5 million.
The proposal has now been scheduled to go before the Fayetteville city council on April 21, where a final decision will be made.
