Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Patterson presented the one item of personnel on the agenda to the room where he announced new principals and current staff who were already in positions of power at local high schools who may not have been known.

“This called session is important today to act on this one item as personnel,” said Patterson. “You’ve seen the list of retirements, resignations, reclassifications, elections as well as some community coaches.”

The motion to discuss personnel was approved unanimously by board members and Patterson formally introduced the new principal of Sandy Creek High School.

“Thank you, board members. At this time, I’d like to introduce the new principal of Sandy Creek High School to the community, Tosha Oliver,” said Patterson. “Tosha is currently an assistant principal of Fulton County Public Schools’ Westlake High School where she has worked for many years.”

The superintendent went on to acknowledge more personnel hires such as student advocacy specialists and other positions that will be filled in the future.

“I also want to recognize that we have hired two student advocacy specialists and there will be a third at the next board meeting,” said Patterson. “We’ve got several other positions that will be discussed as well.”

For the superintendent’s report, Patterson gave an update on a resignation.

“The next item is the superintendent’s report and I wanted to give the board as well as the community an update on a resignation,” said Patterson. “The principal of Bennett’s Mill Middle School, Dr. Marcus Broadhead, has resigned to take a position with the charter school to be planning future charter schools in Georgia.”

Patterson gave a rundown of Broadhead’s contributions to the Fayette County School System and wished him well on his future endeavors.

“Dr. Broadhead served as a principal for us and as an assistant principal at several of our schools as well as a language arts teacher,” said Dr. Patterson. “We wish Dr. Brownhead well wishes as he transitions to a new school system,” added Dr. Patterson.

The superintendent closed his presentation by informing the community that Fayette County is looking for the next principal for Bennett’s Mill and wants to hear the community’s input.

“We are currently in the process of looking for the next principal of Bennett’s Mill,” said Patterson. “We have our community meeting next week and we are meeting also with the staff next week. We look forward to this opportunity to meet with the community to get their feedback on the qualities they’re looking for in their next principal.”
