Marilyn Jean Podoll

Dear wife, mom, sister, friend, Marilyn Jean Podoll went to be with our Lord Jesus on June 22, 2016, at the age of 74 after her courageous battle with ovarian cancer for three and a half years. She could not wait one more month for her 75th birthday!! She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 39 years, Derald (Jerry) Podoll and other family and friends.
Marilyn and Jerry had an adventurous marriage traveling the country as job opportunities presented.  Gathered along the path were many long-lasting friendships.  She treasured each of them.  Marilyn enjoyed most the pleasure of helping other women improve their lifestyle and potential through the use of Mary Kay.  Marilyn believed in the strength in numbers as others gather together for a common goal.
Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Gretchen Lempkie; brother Albert, sister-in-law Colleen; and brother-in-law Doug Carney.  Marilyn is survived by loving husband, Jerry; cute dog Sadie; son Robert Gilbert, daughter Sheila Studdard (David); sisters Lenie Carney, JoAnn McKeen (David);and brother Doug Lempkie; three stepdaughters and two stepsons; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family wants to thank the devoted friends that filled the gap during her battle with cancer. A special thank you to Terry DuPont, for being available ‘every time’ the phone rang! Thank you to Northside Hospital and Piedmont Fayette Hospital for the excellent care given to Marilyn during her stays.
A visitation will be Monday, June 27, 2016, at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.  The memorial service will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church on Highway 314 in Fayetteville on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at 2:00 pm with a fellowship to follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in honor of Marilyn to the Ovarian Cancer Institute at www.classy.org/fundraise?fcid=704635.
