Marcy Curry Williams

Marcy Curry Williams was born on July 9, 1944. She grew up in Elizabeth, New Jersey and attended Seton Hall University and the CCNY. She married Ron Curry in 1968 and moved to Atlanta. In 1969, she gave birth to her first daughter, Brooke followed by a second daughter, Heather.
In 1972, the family moved to Peachtree City, where Ron worked on the development of Peachtree City and Marcy sold real estate. In 1977, the family moved to Houston and divorced. Marcy returned to Peachtree City in 1980 and took a job with the Peachtree City Recreation Dept. She worked tirelessly to create new programs and increase recreation services, becoming Director of Parks and Recreation. Marcy created programs for Japanese families, led rafting trips, road races, 4th of July activities, and started many clubs. Marcy belonged to the Peachtree City Rotary Club, the ABWA, and was on the board of the Georgia Lung Association. She was treasurer of the Atlanta Symphony Associates and on the McIntosh Trail Mental Health Service Board. She also helped start the Fayette Shelter for Battered Women.
Marcy worked to rebuild the Peachtree City amphitheater and have the Kedron Aquatics center and PTC Tennis Center built. Marcy was granted an award to study industries in Japan by the Japanese government. She married Jim Williams, then Director of Development for Peachtree City and later City Manager of Fairburn and Chattahoochee Hills. Marcy managed the Grandview high rise in Buckhead and started her own property management Company. In 2007, Marcy had a serious health crisis and endured many trials. Marcy was on the Board of Fayette Head Start and continued to help many people. She remained a loving wife, good friend, and caring parent. The joy of her life were her granddaughters, Chloe and Lauren. On Saturday March 24, 2018, she left us to be with the Lord.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Mowell Funeral Home in Peachtree City. There will be a gathering of friends from 3:00-4:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
