A man that police say was involved in two armed robberies in Fayetteville this week is in police custody, according to the Fayette County Jail Records.

Charlie Jackson, 22, is accused of robbing both City Gear shoe store in the pavilion on Jan. 23 and GJK Food Mart on Highway 85 in Fayetteville on Jan. 24, holding a gun to employees at both stores.

Jackson received felony charges of possession of a firearm/knife, aggravated assault and armed robbery.

Fayetteville spokesperson Ann Marie Burdett confirmed that an arrest had been made in connection to the robberies.

“The Fayetteville Police Department has made an arrest in the Armed Robberies, which occurred on January 23rd and 24th in the City of Fayetteville.” Burdett said of the case.

Police say they were ready for Jackson the third time and identified his white pickup truck in Fayetteville and tailed the suspect into Newnan, where he was eventually arrested.

According to reports, Jackson’s vehicle was lost by police when he entered Newnan. Jackson then swerved to avoid a rear-end collision which caused his truck to get stuck in a ditch. Police later found him sitting on the side of the road. Jackson was arrested and taken to the Fayette County Jail.

More information will be released as it is made available by authorities.
