Man charged with vehicular homicide in Sept. 26 crash

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department on Monday arrested 49-year-old Fayette resident Kelsey Cartwright and charged him with vehicular homicide relating to the death of 25-year-old Fayette resident Tiphanie Fletcher.

According to reports, Cartwright was driving his pickup truck northbound on Hwy. 92 while towing a utility trailer when it came loose, crossed the center line and struck Fletcher’s SUV head-on. Fletcher’s vehicle then left the roadway and crashed into a tree in the backyard of a home in the Kingswood neighborhood.

Fletcher died four days later as a result of the injuries she sustained in that crash.

According to Sgt. Doug Hardy, Cartwright turned himself in at the Fayette County Jail, where he was arrested Monday morning. Booking records indicate Cartwright was released on bond Monday afternoon.

Fletcher, a 2007 Whitewater High School graduate, was traveling that Friday night with her two-year-old and less-than-one-year-old children, neither of whom were injured in the accident.
