Fayetteville Police arrested 31-year-old Marcellus Shead of Evansville, Indiana early Tuesday morning and charged him with felony kidnapping and false imprisonment after what police are calling a lengthy standoff with the combined Peachtree City / Fayetteville Special Response Team.
According to reports, police were notified just after midnight that a woman was being detained in a residence on Susan Lane in southeastern Fayetteville. Police later reported seeing through the windows that a man had a gun pointed at a woman’s back inside the home.
After the woman escaped the residence, police say they placed a “throw phone” into the residence to communicate with the suspect and take him into custody by 4:30 a.m. without injury. Several children were reportedly in the home sleeping during the standoff.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was also involved in the incident.
