All available Fayetteville Police units responded quickly Wednesday afternoon to an Armed Robbery call at the Wendy’s restaurant inside the Fayette Pavilion shopping center, but it turned out to be a very odd false alarm instead.

The Armed Robbery call was received around 4 p.m., and police converged on the Wendy’s location. However, Lieutenant Mike Whitlow, the department’s public information officer, says the suspect, who was arrested, was not in possession of a firearm, and he may not have been trying to rob anybody. Whitlow says the man entered the restaurant, shouted at the occupants and created havoc, and then he left he building.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.
