With the help of a couple local faces, the Reinhardt University women’s lacrosse team made program history this season. For the first time, the Eagles won the Appalachian Athletic Conference championship to earn a berth in the NAIA Women’s Lacrosse National Invitational, and two area alums were key factors. Both just freshmen, Jessica Landers of Whitewater and Alyssa Klinger of Fayette County made a big impact for the Eagles.
Landers split time in goal and saved her biggest moment for the big stage. In the conference championship game, the Eagles’ starter was pulled at halftime in a 5-5 tie, and Landers came in, making five key saves to preserve the 18-9 victory.
Klinger, and attacker and midfielder, racked up 51 goals and 6 assists on the year, including a clutch four goals in the AAC championship game.
