PEACHTREE CITY — Lake Kedron is getting some repairs to its dam, but don’t worry Peachtree City residents; this repair process won’t take multiple years.

The Fayette County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution to award $86,159 to the Helix Group to make repairs to degraded concrete that reinforces the integrity of the Kedron dam.

“To prevent further deterioration, the fabriform must be removed and replaced. Georgia EPD safe dams noted in their inspection that the fabriform required repair,” the resolution presented to the board of commissioners reads.

Fayette County Water System Director Vanessa Tigert said the project won’t require draining the lake and should finish in a timely manner.

Four companies submitted quotes for the project to the county, with the Felix Group offering the least expensive option.

Built in 1987, the Kedron dam was set up with the purpose of serving as a drinking water source and has been maintained routinely.
