Johnson wins Fayetteville, Dial keeps Tyrone

Fayetteville City Councilman Ed Johnson has defeated Mayor Greg Clifton in the city’s mayoral race by 91 votes.

According to results published by the Fayette County Elections Office, 1,259 votes were cast in the mayoral race, and Johnson garnered about 54 percent of them.

Tyrone Mayor Eric Dial was reelected for another four-year term as well, defeating Derrick Jackson soundly with 68 percent of the 1,716 votes cast. Incumbent City Councilman Ryan Housley also kept his seat by winning more than 67 percent of the vote against challenger Wil James.

Phil Prebor beat Shayne Robinson with almost 79 percent of 2,077 votes to win the open Post One Peachtree City City Council seat.

Back in Fayetteville, Kathaleen Brewer inched by incumbent City Councilman Mickey Edwards to win his Post Two seat by only 35 votes. According to vote totals, Brewer earned 618 to Edwards’ 583.

Harlan Shirley beat write-in candidate Mimi Oddo with 80 percent of 1,093 votes to win the open Post One Fayetteville City Council seat.
