Hoops season is in the rearview with one last order of business, All-County honors for the boys. It wasn’t the title-winning campaign teams were hoping for, but there is still plenty to celebrate.

Kaleb Banks of Fayette County High is the County Player of the Year. Banks, an Indiana signee, was a force for Fayette, averaging 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks a night for the region-champion squad.

“Kaleb was a unique player because he was so versatile. He could play 1-5 positions, and he could shoot the 3,” said Fayette coach Andre Flynn. “He was our leader, and we relied on him to do a lot of things: Scoring, rebounding, defend the basket, make plays, etc.”

Micah Smith of Sandy Creek is the Defensive Player of the Year. Smith, a sophomore big man, could lock down any man on the opposition and wasn’t afraid to take a charge. He averaged 12 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocks a night for the Patriots.
