Injunction requested to stop at-large voting in Special Election

As expected, the battle for district voting is far from over. On the heels of the official call for a Special Election to replace the recently passed Pota Coston via at-large voting, the Plaintiffs in the initial lawsuit have requested the Court issue an injunction to prohibit using at-large voting in the election.
The County plans to oppose the injunction request.
When the Court of Appeals sent the case back down to the District Court level, the at-large system was put back in effect, pending a further hearing. At-large voting enables any registered voter in the county to vote on the district five post which will complete Costa’s term.
