high-density apartment developer hosting open house Apr. 20

Proposed Fayetteville Site Plan 3 10 16 REV 2-1Rea Ventures Group, which is looking to construct a single, 80-unit apartment building on 4.7 acres at the corner of Glynn Street (Hwy. 85) and Lafayette Avenue in Fayetteville, will host an information open house event on Wednesday, Apr. 20, 4-7 p.m., at the Old Train Depot located under the city’s water tower on East Lanier Avenue (Hwy. 54 westbound).

Many local residents are expressing concern over the project, which would also include commercial shops in that same building and would be the densest residential development in Fayetteville history. It would also, according to a letter from the developer, offer rental fees “at both market rates and at capped below-market ‘affordable’ housing rent levels”.

See more information about the project in Wednesday’s print editions of Fayette County News and Today in Peachtree City.

[Editor’s note: Last week, we erroneously published that Planning and Zoning Commission Chairwoman Sarah Murphy was one of the land owners involved in the Rea Ventures “Abbington Square” project. In fact, she and her husband Rich Hoffman own contiguous tracts of land not associated with the project.]
