A head-on collision early Sunday evening left one man dead and the other in the Fayette County Jail.

Sheriff Barry Babb said Griffin resident Robert Broski, 56, was traveling south March 3 at 6 p.m. on Ga. Highway 92 South near Riveroak Drive, when a Ford 250 van headed north on Hwy. 92 crossed the center line and collided with Broski’s vehicle.

The van was driven by Fernando Da Silva, 56, of Margate, Fla. Da Silva was transported to Grady Hospital, while Broski was sent to Piedmont Fayette, where he died from injuries, Babb said.

After Da Silva was treated at Grady, he was transported to the Fayette County Jail, where he was charged with homicide by vehicle first degree, reckless driving, driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane, and driving on the wrong side of the road. Babb said further charges could be added as the investigation continues.
