F’ville talks amphitheater, concert lineup improvements

At the city goes through its budget process, Fayetteville may look at improvements to both the Southern Ground Amphitheater itself and the acts performing there.

During the first reading of the city’s proposed FY2020 budget, City Manager Ray Gibson proposed looking at providing more money for the amphitheater. He said the chairs and landscaping are starting to show wear and tear, and he also wondered if the concert lineup could be freshened up, as well.

“Maybe funnel some more money to Main Street to get a higher-end concert potentially, or have more bargaining money to get better concerts,” he said.

Staff will look at amphitheater funding options before the budget’s second reading at the July 18 City Council meeting.
