Fayetteville police identify shot home invasion suspect

Fayetteville Police on Monday released the name of the Aug. 6 home invasion suspect who was shot by a Windridge Drive resident in the Lakemont subdivision, and they say the investigation into what happened that day continues.
It was 21-year-old Jordan J. Collinsworth of Fayetteville who was shot at that home on Windridge Drive, according to police reports, after he entered the main floor of the residence through a back window. Collinsworth had reportedly been spotted in the basement-level garage with a gun by a resident of the home, who then went upstairs to arm himself. When the resident returned to the main floor and saw Collinsworth, the resident reportedly opened fire, shooting Collinsworth four times.
Collinsworth was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where he was said to be in critical condition at that time. According to Fayetteville Lieutenant Mike Whitlow, as of Monday afternoon Collinsworth was still at Grady.
The shooter in this incident was the young adult son of the homeowner.
Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Detective Chris Stevers at 770-719-4220.
