FAYETTEVILLE — Residents of Fayetteville are getting their very own Tesla showroom after the city council unanimously voted to approve a rezoning request for the land on Thursday.

After months of discussion and bouncing around from the city, officials finally agreed to rezone 1302 Highway 85 North in Fayetteville from C2 (Community Commercial) zoning district to C-3 (Highway Commercial).

The location is approximately 6.7 acres and houses a 65,000 square foot building currently owned by Havertys Furniture Store, which will be closing by the end of the year.

The location will serve as a showroom only, as Tesla sells all its vehicles online.

The council voted 5-0 in their decision, wasting no time bringing just the second car dealership-themed business to Fayetteville.
