Fayette freshmen rack up college accolades

Fayette freshmen are wasting no time making an impact on the collegiate diamond.
A pair of former Starr’s Mill baseball teammates were named to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper’s All-Freshmen Team.
Hayes Heinecke of Wofford posted a 10-2 record with a 2.65 ERA and 84 strikeouts and just 15 walks over 88 innings. He was also named Freshman of the Year for the Southern Conference for his play.
Nathan Price of Air Force notched a 6-3 record with 5 saves and a 2.59 ERA for the Falcons, striking out 32 and walking 18 over 62 innings.
Fayette County High alum Rikkelle Miller dominated the competition for Grambling softball. Miller led her conference, the Southwestern Athletic Conference, in hitting, pounding the ball at a .423 clip. She also led the Tigers in hits (47), RBIs (47), runs scored (21), doubles (9), and home runs (8). For her work, Miller was named the SWAC Rookie of the Year and also earned All-SWAC Second Team honors.
