Sheriff: Fayette County Jail Inmate attempts to take Officers Weapon, fails

By Michael Cuneo –

FAYETTEVILLE, GA — A Fayette County Jail inmate attempted to remove an officer’s weapon on Feb. 22, according to Sheriff Barry Babb.

Jada S. Landers, 21, of Lithonia, unsuccessfully attempted to remove an officer’s taser, resulting in a physical altercation, Babb said.

As a result, Landers was charged with removal of a weapon from an officer and unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution, both of which are felony charges.

Sanders was arrested in 2021 on 24 counts of identity fraud and possession of tools for the commission of a crime, fleeing/attempting to elude an officer, reckless driving, and driving with a suspended license.

Babb said Landers’ new charges would be added to her current record and that she remains in The Fayette County Jail.
