A Fayette County deputy was injured Monday night in a vehicle accident that resulted in the driver of the other vehicle being sent to the hospital by helicopter.
Public Information Officer Allen Stevens said the collision happened at the intersection of Hwy. 85 and Harp Road around 8:30 p.m. on Labor Day when the deputy turned his vehicle to catch up to someone driving without headlights. A third vehicle and the deputy’s vehicle crashed at that point.
Stevens said the deputy received minor injuries in the accident. He also said Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident, which is standard practice when an officer’s vehicle is involved.
Telephone calls to the newspaper office Tuesday morning indicated the vehicle accident may have resulted in a fatality. Stevens said there was no fatality.
