The latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows that Fayette County is still growing, although at a much slower pace.

The Bureau estimates the county’s population at 113,459 as of July 1, 2018. In 2010, the population was 106,564. In eight years, the population has grown 6.5 percent.

Demographically, the percent of white alone population dropped from 71.7 percent to 67.5. African-American population increased from 21.4 to 24.3, and the Hispanic population increased from 6.9 to 7.4 percent.

In neighboring Coweta, the estimated population is 145, 864, up from the official count in 2010 of 127,317 for a 14.5 percent increase.

Coweta’s white alone population increase from 75.9 percent to 76.7, and its African-American population increased from 17.3 to 18.4. The county’s Hispanic population grew from 6.7 to 7.1 percent.
