Charles Irvin “Pete” Johnson, 86, of Fayetteville passed away on June 12, 2019. He was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on August 14, 1932 to the late George Jacob and Lucy Terrell Johnson. Pete served in the National Guard – 3rd Army, 48th Division, 122 Infantry, Medics from 1948 to 1954. He was employed by Complete Auto Transit out of Doraville, GA for 39 years as a driver. Pete married Elizabeth Patterson on January 4, 1978 and moved to Fayetteville, GA. They were active members of Fayetteville First Baptist Church for several years. Charles loved to travel and he and his wife have enjoyed their many cruises and travels to other countries. Pete was preceded in death by his sons, Robert Johnson and Charles Johnson, Jr.; sister, Juanita Hand; and half-brother, James Coats. He is survived by his wife of over 41 years, Elizabeth “Liz” Johnson; daughter, Amanda Mowrey; sons, Paul (Cyd) Johnson and Danny Johnson; stepchildren, Timothy (Charlene) Peavy and Thomas Martin Peavy; twelve grandchildren, Summer (Ralph) Costley, Haley Conley, Hollie Beckett, Keeley (Clint) DeLaney, Taylor (John) Donaldson, Britton Johnson, Stephanie Johnson, Jamie Peavy, Hannah Peavy, Tim Peavy, Sam (Lisabeth) Peavy and Molly Peavy; twelve great-grandchildren, Maison Costley, Charlee Grace Costley, Shelby Anderson, Abagail Conley, Allie Brooks, Quinn Beckett, Grayson Delaney, Bentley & Kennedy Donaldson, James Peavy, JoHannah Peavy, and Samantha Peavy; and nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville with Rev. Jack Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
