Boyfriend Batters Ex-girlfriend, Tries to Prevent her from Calling 911, police say

By Leah Banks —

On Feb. 11, Peachtree City Police arrested a man for striking his ex-girlfriend in the head, preventing her from calling 911, and blocking the apartment door to prevent her from leaving the premises.

Fayette County Jail records state Zachary A. Kukec, 18, was charged with felony false imprisonment, harassing communications, battery, interfering with 911 call, and obstruction of an officer. According to Peachtree City police, it was a situation between an ex-boyfriend and ex-girlfriend. Kukec convinced the victim to come to the apartment so that they could discuss their relationship.

There were many phone calls made prior to the incident that led to the charge of harassing communications.

While the ex-girlfriend was at the apartment, an altercation occurred, which included preventing her from leaving the apartment. This constitutes the false imprisonment charge.

When Kukec struck the ex-girlfriend, this constituted the battery charge. When the victim attempted to call 911, he prevented her from doing so. This led to the interference with the 911 call charge.
