Arrest, charges made in motorcycle fatality

An Atlanta woman is now behind bars after a June 2 accident claimed the life of a Peachtree City man.

Tanesha Stephens, 30, faces charges of failure to yield when turning, failure to obtain a Georgia license within 30 days, homicide by vehicle second degree, and seatbelt violation in connection with the accident. A man was pronounced dead late Sunday afternoon after a traffic accident on Bernhard Road.

The victim, Michael Hearing, 49, was driving his Harley Davidson eastbound on the Bernhard Road at approximately 4:30 p.m., said Sheriff Barry Babb.

In the westbound lane, driving a Mercedes van was Stephens.

Babb said the van was turning left into a driveway, but failed to yield. Hearing tried to swerve around the van, but was ejected from his bike onto the side of the road. He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
