Armstrong armed robbery trial begins today

FC-justice-centerJury selection began Tuesday afternoon and the criminal trial is set to begin today for Tyrek Oneil Armstrong, who is accused of taking part in an armed robbery in which a gun was put to a man’s head and his money stolen during a would-be marijuana sale in December 2014.

According to the July 2015 indictment, Armstrong and two other people went to the victim’s apartment complex, directed him to enter a car with them and then robbed him.

Armstrong is charged with Armed Robbery, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute and Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act (Counterfeit Substance). According to the indictment, the marijuana Armstrong was pretending to sell was actually a counterfeit substance.
