A harrowing evening for a Fayetteville shopper has left police looking for an armed robber.
Fayetteville Police said a call was received at 7:11 p.m. from the Dollar General on Ga. Highway 54 July 25 of an armed robbery in progress.
Spokesperson Ann Marie Burdett said a woman was putting groceries in her car when a man in his late teens approached her and asked her for the keys to her car. Burdett said the man had a knife in one hand and a gun in the other hand.
“The victim told the suspect that her son was in the car and asked if she could get him out. The suspect let her get her son and then left in the victim’s 2013 KIA,” Burdett said.
The car was was later retrieved and was towed to the department where it is under investigation.
Burdett said the suspect still remains on the lam.
