Board of Elections Meeting on Thursday, October 3, 2019

            Please be advised that the Fayette County Board of Elections will meet on:

Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 3:00 p.m.

         This meeting is to certify the Election results of the October 1, 2019 Special Called Runoff Election for State House Representative- District 71.

         The meeting will be held in the Fayette County Elections Office located in the Fayette County Administrative Complex, 140 Stonewall Avenue West, Suite 208, Fayetteville, Georgia, 30214

         The Public is invited to attend.

County sets course for revamped animal shelter, Health Dept.

The county is ready to make much-needed moves to help both animals and humans. At Thursday night’s County Board of Commissioners meeting, requests were approved to set aide $1 million each for a modernized animal shelter and a new Health Department facility.
Commissioner Edge Gibbons summed up the need for the animal shelter project.
“What we’re really looking for is something that meets current best practices in terms of animal care and animal control in a facility,” he said.

Mount Kilimanjaro

Visiting Mount Kilimanjaro is a daunting task by any measure. After flying from Atlanta to Rome on an overnight flight and spending several fitful hours at the Rome airport, I flew on to Istanbul where I waited nine hours for yet another overnight flight to the Mount Kilimanjaro airport. When I finally arrived there, at about 3 a.m. the following morning, I had endured more than 42 hours without any proper sleep! Anyone willing to undergo this degree of travel “torture” obviously has a deep-seated desire to see this famed mountain.
