Fayette County Sheriff’s deputies have now arrested all six suspects connected to the Dec. 2 home invasion and armed robbery that reportedly took place in the Kenwood Landings Mobile Home Park off Milam Road near Hwy. 74.
Twenty-year-old Eugene N Butler and 19-year-old Kedric D McGhee, both of Clayton County, were the latest suspects to be arrested, both taken into custody on Friday, Jan. 15. Both were charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault, three counts of Armed Robbery, three counts of False Imprisonment, Burglary, and Possession of Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
Seventeen-year-old Amerius J. Westmoreland, also of Clayton County, was previously arrested and charged with the same crimes.
Three others arrested in connection with the Dec. 2 incident include 17-year-old Krista Victoria Clark-Davis of Hampton, 22-year-old Ariel Shanice Clark of Conley, and 19-year-old Kamery Shevon Glaspy of Jonesboro. Clark-Davis was charged with Burglary, Party to the Crime of Armed Robbery, and Party to the Crime of Identity Fraud. Clark was charged with Party to the Crime of Armed Robbery, Burglary, and Identity Fraud. Glaspy was charged with Party to the Crime of Burglary and Party to the Crime of Armed Robbery.
According to Sheriff Barry Babb, the suspects were masked when they stormed the victims’ home with guns drawn and separated the occupants into different parts of the home. A firearm was discharged in the home as well.
Babb said this is one of those cases where the investigators worked tirelessly until all of the suspects were apprehended.
“This is what I’d call a technical investigation that took a lot of old-fashioned police work,” Babb said, particularly praising the lead investigator in the case, who he called “tenacious.”
“He had a lot of support from the rest of the Criminal Investigation Division to make this thing happen,” Babb said. He called the incident “horrific” for the victims, and he said his investigators took the attitude that “I’m going to do my best for the victims.”
“They impressed me,” Babb said. “They impress me all the time.”
