Senoia Raceway crowns 2019 champions

by Riley Hicks

It’s been a memorable 50th Anniversary for Senoia Raceway this season, from battling continuous storms that rained out races to seeing some of the best finishes in the track’s history and honoring some Senoia Raceway greats. Through all the ups and downs, Senoia always put on some great shows for fans, and with only two weekends remaining this year the Masseys hope to end on a high note. Over the summer months, there have been many different drivers to capture the checkered flag, and this Saturday night it’s time to honor those winners with crowning of the 2019 track champions.

Drivers have been competitive all season trying to boost themselves in the points standings, and they get one more opportunity to do just that this Saturday night. In the final points race of the year, drivers will have the chance at double points in their division races to hopefully help themselves in becoming a track champion. All classes will be racing Saturday night from Limited and Crate Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Chargers, Hobbies, Bombers, Mini Stocks and the Hot Shots. A bonus of $350 has been offered up to the winner of the Hot Shots race thanks to Turner Alignment.

When the final checkered flag is thrown Saturday night, Senoia Raceway will add seven new champions to an elite group of drivers to pull off the same accomplishment over the years.

Tickets for this weekend will be $12; kids 5-12 $5; four and under are free. Anyone that presents a military ID at the gate will receive a $2 discount. For trackside parking and pit passes tickets are $30; kids 5-12 $20; four and under free. All racing will start at 7:30 p.m. after hot laps. Don’t miss the chance to come out and congratulate this season’s champions and thank them for putting on some great shows.

Make sure to mark your calendars for Senoia Raceways final weekend on Saturday, September 26 for the annual Showdown at Senoia. All divisions will be racing that weekend for huge purses in each of their classes. The Super Late Models will also be back in action for a $10,000 to win main event on Saturday. This Showdown will be a three-night event kicking off on Thursday the 24th. More details about the Senoia Showdown will be announced in coming weeks.
