Patrick Francis Johnson

Patrick Francis Johnson, 74, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018, in Fayetteville, GA. following a short illness. His family was at his bedside. He was born on April 29, 1944, in Florence, SC, the son of Gen. Louis F. Johnson and Rose Hickey Johnson of Augusta, ME.
Pat retired after forty years with Delta Air Lines in Atlanta, GA. Most of that time he served as a Flight Attendant, which he thoroughly loved and travelled throughout the Delta system, both domestic and international. He was well loved and respected by his friends and colleagues at Delta, and continued his friendship with his special crew mates, Kathy, Linda, and Libby throughout the years following retirement.
Pat also served his country with 22 years in the Maine Air National Guard, the Maineacs. He retired as a TSGT/E6. Even though he moved to Georgia in 1979, he continued his service in Maine, flying in every month to report for duty. He enjoyed serving alongside his father and two brothers, Mike and Rick.
He was a graduate of John Bapst High School, Bangor, Maine; Class of 1962. Pat also attended Husson Business College in Bangor, prior to beginning his airline career with Northeast Airlines in Bangor, that later merged with, and became part of Delta Air Lines. In 1979, he received a promotion with Delta and he and his family moved to Peachtree City, GA. Pat then became part of Delta’s team at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta.
Pat was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his son, Patrick L. Johnson, of Jacksonville, FL. and Patrick’s son, Aiden; his daughter, Jennifer J. Manly of Cumming, GA., and Jennifer’s children, Andy Lynne and Robby. His children and grandchildren were the source of his greatest joy and pride. He is also survived by his brother Michael Johnson and his wife, Mary Ellen of Brewer, Maine; his brother Richard Johnson and his wife, Jonnie, of Brewer, Maine; his sister Rose Ann Johnson of Augusta, Maine, as well as several nieces and nephews that he felt very close to. Close friends, Ginger Valentine of Cumming and Kenny Botte of Atlanta, were part of Pat’s special family circle. He will be sadly missed, never forgotten.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Peachtree City, where he served as a lector for several years.
Patrick and Jennifer would like to express their deep thanks to their dad’s friends, staff, and caregivers at Gardens of Fayetteville, Fayetteville, GA. for the excellent care provided these past several years. Their kindness went above and beyond in their constant showing of genuine love, concern, and care for Pat. They became part of his extended family. Also special thanks to the nurses and caregivers of Southern Grace Hospice & Palliative Care of McDonough, GA., especially Angela and Brandy, who provided gentle care and comfort in his last hours with his family. To Dr. Frank Alena of Piedmont Physicians and his staff, we cannot thank you enough for your constant and excellent care and friendship that you provided for so many years.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home of Peachtree City, GA. Pat’s wishes are being followed and no local service will be held. The family also expresses thanks to them for their guidance and respectful care of this kind man. Pat’s remains will be interred at a later date with military honors in the Maine State Veterans Cemetery in Augusta, Maine.
