The Chenault Agency, a local branch of Allstate Insurance, is making sure the community’s children are in good hands with the launching of an Operation Kidsafe year-round child safety center.

Through Operation Kidsafe, the group will offer free, private Amber Alert-ready safety forms and safety tips year-round at the Chenault Agency, and, because the system is completely mobile, you will also see it out at events out in the community throughout the year. The kit includes a bio card with photos, fingerprints, and room for additional information in the event of an emergency and the need to locate a child.

The decision to get involved was an easy one for Shayrika Chenault.

“We’re always trying to find ways to give back to our community. I have a child myself, and safety is something we’re focusing on,” she said. “It’s something I feel strongly about.”

The child safety center will be an important resource for local law enforcement, especially the city of Fayetteville Police Department who took part in the ribbon cutting ceremony on June 28.

“It’s always nice when the local community helps us out and becomes a part of us,” said Fayetteville Chief of Police Scott Gray.

The information gleaned from the kits will help give officers a head start in the event they’re searching for a child.

“It’ll help (Criminal Investigations Division) out a lot, and police officers out in the community in general, not only in the city, but the county,” said Gray. “It’ll help us out being able to track leads down. It’s another resource to fall back on.”

The Chenault Agency is located at 560 Grady Ave., Suite B, in Fayetteville. For more information, call 770-817-1888.
