Lee St. John releases new book ‘She’s a Keeper!’ Aug. 7

Lee St. John releases her new book, “She’s a keeper! Cockamamie Memoirs from a Hot Southern Mess,” on Tuesday, August 7.

Fayette Newspapers contributor Lee St. John releases her new book, “She’s a keeper! Cockamamie Memoirs from a Hot Southern Mess,” on Tuesday, August 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Coweta Central Library. Refreshments will be served during the book launch and book cover reveal.
Much like her columns for the newspaper, the humorous book of essays published by Bienvenue Press is full of true misadventures growing up in a small Georgia town, attending college, learning her way around “Hotlanta” as a single young woman during the Nixon and Carter administrations, as well as becoming a wife and mother. She reveals her funny outlook to these challenges in her tell-all. Many times she was even the instigator of these shenanigans. There was never a dull moment.
As a rogue Southern Belle, a high-jinx expert, and mayhem confessor, she unashamedly admits that she rats out people. She rats out two Presidents of the United States, an NFL Super Bowl Champion, a Master’s Golf Champion, the Mafia, and everyone she knows – dead or alive – although she cloaks her friends and family in her outrageous confessions because, well, she had to. Since she even rats out herself – she uses a pseudonym for her writing: Lee St. John, combining the names of her two adult sons (She considers herself a saint having survived raising them).
St. John began her writing career with the Rockdale Citizen in 1970 with her own column, The School News, a weekly update of happenings at her high school. She continued writing as a feature reporter for the paper throughout college and had her own social column as an adult while living in Rockdale County. Her family moved to Coweta County in 2004. When she retired from teaching English at Northgate High School, she started writing again.
St. John, a contributing guest on Charter Cable television in Alabama, has been featured in national, regional, and local magazines and other publications around the Southeast. She continues to be a popular humorist speaking for organizations and associations throughout the South. Her proudest moment came when she was asked to speak at the international Erma Bombeck Writers’ Workshop Convention in 2018. She also contributes her columns to neighboring paper, The Newnan Times-Herald. She hosts her own radio program, “Spilling the Beans Book Club” where you can watch live at www.facebook.com/leestjohnauthor, listen live at sites.google.com/view/wqee99rocks or on radio 99.1 FM Mondays from 9:30 a.m. – 10 a.m.
Lee is found on every social media outlet and writes a blog about her buffoonery on her Facebook page and her website at www.leestjohnauthor.com. She is a member of the National Society of Newspaper Columnists, Atlanta Writers Club, Humorous Writers of America, and is on the board of Southern Living Magazine’s The Front Porch. After its release, her book can be found on Amazon.com where she’s been ranked number one in Humor Short Reads on Kindle.
Bienvenue Press, a Southern press based out of Lafayette, Louisiana, has a deep love for words, writing, and books. You can find them at www.bienvenuepress.com.
